Manually migrate a Zoom Recording to Panopto

If a Zoom Meeting was not scheduled via an NYU Brightspace Course Site, any recordings from that session will not be automatically migrated to the associated Panopto Course Folder. There may also be instances where the integration between Zoom and Panopto fails which will also result in the recording not being moved. In either case, follow the steps below to download the Zoom Recording and upload it into your Panopto Course Folder.

Step 1: Download the Zoom Recording

  1. In a web browser, open NYU Zoom (https://home.nyu.edu) and click Login to Zoom
  2. Enter your NetID and Password if prompted.
  3. Once logged in, click on Recordings in the left side menu
  4. Find the desired Meeting in the list and click its Topic title
  5. Depending on your account Settings, you might have several recordings available to download. The default view usually migrated to Panopto is Shared screen with speaker view
  6. Hover over the recording view and click the download icon indicated by the downward facing arrow
  7. The recording will be download to your local device

Step 2: Upload to your Panopto Course Folder

  1. Open your NYU Brightspace course site (https://brightspace.nyu.edu)
  2. Enter your NetID and Password if prompted.
  3. Click on the More Tools menu items and select Panopto Course Folder in the dropdown
  4. Panopto will open in a new tab/window
  5. Click the green Create button located in the top left and select Upload Media
  6. Either drag and drop the downloaded Zoom recording into the box displayed or click anywhere within the box to open the file explorer and find the video file
  7. Panopto will begin uploading the recording and notify you when you can close the window
  8. The video will need to process before it is available to view. Depending on the recording length, this process may take up to an hour to complete.
